AGES had a lot of unusual musical elements for a “modern worship album” including a live horn section & live string section joining a stellar band of your classic keys/bass/guitars/perc/drums. The songs are forward thinking and definitely push out the creative boundaries of a typical church-based album. This was an album marked by Influence’s relentless lack of consideration for what the “market” wants. As a result, the market was stoked!  Influence Music garnered their highest CCLI chart positioning to date with 2 songs on this album - Glory Honor Power & 10,000 Armies - proving the age old adage, “Don’t give the market what it wants. Instead, give them what they need.”

I had the honor of writing with the Influence Music team on two songs -  Devotion and Thief in the Night.

A few musical moments have to be highlighted:

• Jacob Evergreen’s guitar solo on If its You

• Matt Gilman’s Jazz Club-ish performance on Never Runs Dry - complete with Sax Solo

• The strings at the end of Devotion

• 10,000 Armies - the whole thing. Jonathan Traylor is just ridiculous
